Heat shrink tubing is ideal for insulating solder joints. The material has good insulation properties and shrinks in diameter - after heating - to the specified diameter.
By default, the Shrink Rate is 2: 1 - meaning that the diameter shrinks by half after heating.
We also stock shrink material with higher shrinkage rates. There are hoses with 3: 1 and 4: 1. For 4: 1, the output diameter decreases from 8mm to 2mm after shrinking (as an example).
For shrinking a hot air blower is ideal - but it is also possible with the heat of a soldering iron tip (just under the hose to be shrunk - direct contact with the material (and fingers ;-)) should be avoided.
