Product information "Data Cable K-USB 2"
1x data cable K-USB-2. For live diagnosis, transmission of sound projects. Connection via USB interface. The data cable is NOT required.
With the data cable K-USB-2, the sound modules SFR-1, SFR-1-D, USM-HL-2, light modules LM-xx, USM-RC-2 and USM-RC-3 as well as the speed controller UFR-1230 /UFR-1230-D can be connected to a PC via a USB interface.
The data cable has two functions:
1. Live Diagnostics
Using the data cable, the Sound-Teacher can live receive and display the current diagnostic data (eg position of the proportional channels, state of the inputs and outputs, nautical values, etc.). When troubleshooting this option is very helpful.
Note:
The sound modules SFR-xx, USM-HL-2 and USM-RC-x can also store the diagnostic data on the SD card. This recorded data can be viewed without a data cable using the Sound Teacher's diagnostic function. However, the stored values have the disadvantage that you only see the "past" and not what is currently (live) happening on the module.
2. Transferring the configurations and sounds from the Sound-Teacher/Drive-Teacher to the SFR-x,USM-HL-2, USM-RC-x and UFR-1230/UFR-1230-D modules
If you want to change a sound or setting in the configuration, you normally have to unplug the SD card from the module, plug it into the PC's card reader, save the project data to the SD card with the Sound Teacher, and put the card back in the sound module be plugged in.
With frequent changes, which occur especially at the first start-up or when testing new functions, the unplugging and plugging but can quickly be annoying. With the help of the data cable, all changes can easily be transferred to the sound module without having to ever change the SD card.
However, the transmission of sounds is relatively slow with the data cable! A sound with a length of 10 seconds takes about 60 seconds to transfer with the data cable. Therefore, the transmission of long sounds, or large new projects with the data cable is only partially advisable.
The data cable is not absolutely necessary for the commissioning of the sound module, but often very helpful if you want to work a lot with the various settings of the sound module.
